We're very proud to finally welcome the Scottish downtempo mastermind to our catalog. KUSHT brings us his latest EP "Island Country", with remixes from our long time friends Ibu Selva and Pigmalião.

Island Country started its journey back in lockdown when Kusht found himself stuck inside and dreaming of his once freedom to roam. He would see the high rises from his studio but could imagine a tropical land in the distance, he could hear the melodies calling and he wanted to be there…

O’Ralila - captures the playful and mischievousness of the youth with its lead melody and plucky synths. All floating on the back of a lazy beat building to the breakdown where a choir of kids come to steal your heart. Singing an old Madagascan folk song “O Ralila” which was sang by parents to let the kids know it’s time to come home for supper. The tune goes out heavy with some big notes and sing-a-long.

Falk Kut - Grooves on the back of some rather smooth delayed guitars, bouncing along the song is weirdly chaotic yet chill at the same time. With a bass line provided by the amazing player “Lander" it drives a bounce just right. The song then drifts away to some subtle chords and wanders into an obtuse outro which slowly falls away and degrades. The song's only constant are recurring vocals chops, provided by some lost Madagascan tapes; 1930’s recordings published by Revivethis.

Kusht is a Scottish born wanderer who takes inspiration from all over the world to create a fusion of psychedelic-groove down tempo music, he performs with his unique hybrid live/DJ sets which consist of sampling, guitar, looping and the occasional guest performers. His gigs have taken him all over the world from the magical fields of “Wonderfruit Festival” Thailand to the airfields of “Fusion Festival” Germany where he weaves extended sets for happy people and shaking dancers.
Kusht has many digital releases on various labels, one 12” vinyl album release with his favorite label YNFND (DE) and another with Earthly Measures (GB). He prides himself on always being able to surprise his listeners and strives to reinvent his sound with each release.
